Harold Faltermeyer - Top Gun (Expanded Motion Score)

Harold Faltermeyer, the "Grandfather" of scores to such movies as "Kuffs," "Fletch," "Beverly Hills Cop," and "Thief of Hearts," is also responsible for the unreleased score to the movie, "Top Gun." If you have the original soundtrack with various artists, you would find one track from him which would be the theme to the movie, featuring Steve Stevens. If you have the special expanded edition soundtrack, you would find another track called "Memories."

But now, as a one-time post only, here is the expanded motion picture score to "Top Gun." This score features the original, yes ORIGINAL, "Top Gun" theme, the opening to the movie without the guitars by Steve Stevens and some other movie music as well.

Although this is the expanded score, it has come to my attention that there is another track or two that is missing and/or somewhere else. If anyone else knows about this additional information, let me know.

Alan Silvestri - The Delta Force

Ok, here is the "single" soundtrack to the 1986 action flick, "The Delta Force" staring Chuck Norris and Lee Marvin.

I call this soundtrack a "single" due to the fact that there is a rare, limited-edition and out-of-print Intrada signature release somewhere out there. It is basically a fancy way of saying that this "signature" edition is the complete soundtrack, with fourteen tracks rather than eight.

This post, however, is the standard eight-track soundtrack from a compilation disc, which features music from another movie.

Despite the number of tracks, this Alan Silvestri masterpiece contains some wonderful, highly energetic sounds, including the main title theme.

Personally, I think that the theme to this movie alone would make a killer national anthem. But since we can not have our way, I figure that sharing this soundtrack would have to do.

James Horner - Commando

WOO-HOO!!!

My first official post for a soundtrack to an AHHHHHNNNOOOOLD flick!

Ok, let me be serious, now.

Here is a movie I remember a few years ago called, "Commando," featuring AHHHNOLD (Arnold Schwarzenegger to be exact). His daughter is kidnapped and like any other 80's movie, he saves the day by rescuing her and beating the living s**t out of the bad guys.

The soundtrack to this movie is very intriguing to me. James Horner introduces an incredible orchestral underscore to the movie, making you want to watch it over again and again. Well, that, and Arnold doing his thing by taking out the bad guys.

There is also an actual vocal song called, "Somewhere, Somehow, Someone (We Fight for Love)," performed by the Power Station. This song is heard at the ending of the movie as the credits are rolling. I am sure that I am not the only one completely outraged about the fact that this song was never included in the soundtrack. But if I am, that is a different story.

If you try to find this rare song on places like "Limewire," all you will get is the version in which Arnold's voice is heard in the beginning, making it clear that this version is a DVD rip. However, this song can be acquired from a CD entitled, "The Power Station: 20th Anniversary Edition," which is basically a compilation disc of some of the Power Station's greatest hits. The best part is, it contains this song.

Now, I could tell you buy the CD on Amazon for a few bucks if you really like this song and group. But thanks to a good friend of mine, who already has this disc, I will include it in this soundtrack. This song, along with Horner's orcheastral sounds, will complete this soundtrack.

I have even included the lyrics for "Somewhere, Somehow, Someone (We Fight for Love)," and they should appear if you use "Windows Media Player" to listen to music.

Hans Zimmer - Days of Thunder

And now we continue with yet another wonderful soundtrack.

Here is the complete instrumental score to the 1990 NASCAR-inspired movie, "Days of Thunder," staring Tom Cruise, Robert Duvall and Nicole Kidman.

The man behind this score, Hans Zimmer to be exact, is also the father of many soundtracks to such movies as "Black Rain," "Crimson Tide," "The Rock," and one of my favorite Disney animated films, "The Lion King," which earned him an Academy Award for Best Original Motion Picture Score in 1995.

With an amazing compilation of guitar efforts, powerful drums and even some electronic sounds from Hans Zimmer, this instrumental score is sure to make you feel that you are behind the wheel of a race car.

Paul Hertzog & Various Artists - Bloodsport

This is the original soundtrack to the 1988 Martial-Arts film, "Bloodsport," staring Jean-Claude Van Damme. Sadly, I still have yet to see this movie, though I did see some bits and pieces of it on YouTube.

This soundtrack contains the complete score by Paul Hertzog and some vocal songs from such artists as Michael Bishop, Paul Delph and the man himself, Stan Bush. There is also a standard twelve-track release somewhere on the net, but I prefer to share the whole thing. You know, just to make it fair for my friends and many anonymous users out there.
